8.2 THE BIRTH NUMBERS

This is obtained like any important date, by adding the figures of the month (as given below) to those of the day and year, thus reducing a person’s birthday to its vibratory number.

Thus, a person born on March 12, 1957, would add the figures of 3 – 12 – 1957;

namely, 3 + 1 + 2 + 1 + 9 + 5 + 7 = 28.

2 + 8 = 10. 1 + 0 = 1. This produces 1 as the persons birth number.

 

The birth number is unalterable and therefore holds a fixed position in a person’s life. It represents the vibratory influence existing at the time of birth. However, the extent to which it may shape an individual’s character or govern his future depends upon other numerological factors that will be discussed.

 

In theory, two persons having the same birth number should be similar in many respects and in some cases almost identical, but it seldom works out that precisely. Rather, the birth number simply reveals a person’s inherent traits in relation to controlling conditions, which serve as guiding factors rather than ruling forces.

 

In a primitive society, where wants are few and purposes lacking, the birth number might predominate; but in civilized company, its importance is generally lessened and may become little more than underlying trend in relationship to the higher development expressed in the more complex phases of numerology.
