DAGGER:
The dagger seen in a dream is a threat. It is also considered a symbol of the male sex. Anxiety, fear of bodily injury that may leave the dreamer impotent are associated with dagger dreams that are common to men. For women, the implication is one of genuine fear of gossip or slander. If the dreamer takes the dagger away from the assailant, none of the fears will materialize. Both men and women can trace these dreams to some act that threatens their reputation, or a desire for sexual relationship that might harm them morally.
DAISY:
Daisies in a field indicate good health and security for the dreamer. White daisies bring love, Black-eyed Susans, jealousy.
DANCING:
Old, traditional interpretations of dreams of dancing portend happiness and conviviality. For young dreamers, many pleasures. For adults and the very old, bright vistas in store. Modern interpretations add sexual desires to any dance dream. It is sometimes masked as exhibitionism.
DEATH: See Corpse.
DENTIST:
To dream of a dentist usually indicates a fear complex, a distrust in someone, man or woman, who may appear to be honorable but is, in reality, the opposite.
DESERT:
When the dreamer is in the desert, thirsty and worn, there is need for assistance to salvage the dreamer’s possessions. This may be purely a change of mental attitude or may mean rehabilitation.

The devil appearing in dreams has the same meaning of evil as in walling hours. To see the devil indicates susceptibility to flattery and temptation.
DIAMOND:
The diamond in a dream is an omen of good luck. For men, prosperity. For women, love and marriage.

DITCH:
To fall in a ditch portends loss of virtue, integrity, even position, for the dreamer. To jump over the ditch, the dreamer narrowly escapes public condemnation or disgrace.
DIVORCE:
Dreaming of a divorce is a warning that there is dissatisfaction with marital relations which need understanding and adjustment.
DOCTOR:
Meeting a doctor professionally indicates that the dreamer has a discouraging situation and is seeking help subconsciously. To meet a doctor socially, good news and health. If you dream that you are a doctor, you have a latent desire for power or authority.
DOGS:
For dog enthusiasts, a dream of friendly dogs portends many friendships and a need for pleasant surroundings. Dogs that attack or bite indicate anxiety. Dream analysts of the Freudian trend consider attacks of mad dogs as symbols of sex expression, an urge for mating.
Traditional interpretations foretell less emotional happenings, but nonetheless interesting, such as: Seeing a white dog means marriage for a young lady. For a man, business acumen, enough at least to provide for his family. To hear a dog baying, separation from loved ones, or death of one. A growling dog, resentment and depression about overwhelming circumstances. A dog with many heads, too many diversified interests. Police dogs, fear, guilt, or desire for protection.
DOLL:
A child’s dream of a doll indicates loneliness. For a grown-up it is a retrogression of the subconscious to be protected.
DOMINOES:
If a dreamer wins at a game of dominoes, it augurs a desire for adulation that results in selfish expenditures. If you are the loser, it forebodes moral indiscretions that cause painful embarrassment to those you love.
DONKEY:
A child’s dream of a donkey indicate a void, such as the need for companionship and the joys of playing. Hearing the bray of a donkey releases the dreamer from a most unpleasant family connection, with the added prospect of a small inheritance. To be leading a donkey reveals a feeling of oppression and a determination to extricate one’s self by force. Riding the donkey divulges the sensual emotion for mating. DOOR:
To see people entering and leaving through a swinging door reveals a loss of money because of the dreamer’s mismanagement; that is, letting too many good projects slip by. A closed door means that the one who dreams of it feels divested of happiness. The open door beckons the dreamer to partake in the pleasures that bring new excitement and inspiration.
DRINKING:
Drinking alcoholic beverages in a dream version of escape from distasteful realities. If drunkenness is the theme, the dreamer is losing control of responsibilities and wishes to be relieved. To see someone else drunk, the dreamer looks upon that person as an irresponsible dependent. Drinking water or milk in a dream is often the result of a bodily need, either thirst or hunger.
DRIVING:
If you are driving a car in your dream you express the desire for independence, a wish to make your own decisions. If someone else is driving, you, the dreamer, place confidence in that person and are willing to cooperate. If you are speeding away from something, emotional impulses overwhelm you so that you are seeking release in your dream state.
DROWNING:
Water symbolizes birth and life, so a dream of drowning is a selfish desire to be reborn, to live again. It may be due to a lack of love or to the many burdens of living.
DWARF:
To dream that you are a dwarf reflects a fond of inadequacy or helplessness. If you see a dwarf, it is a foreboding that you wish to disrupt the social status of someone near you.
DYING:
If the dreamer is dying, it is an indication that there is a sense of guilt or a problem that cannot be avoided any other way. If the dreamer sees someone else dying it is the dreamer’s desire to remove all authority from that person, or to literally drive him or her far away.
