1.10 SAGITARIUS

SAGITARIUS – THE BOWMAN

***********************

November 22 – December 21

Activity is the keynote of this sign, and while the persons born under it are often capable in many ways, they have the faculty of concentrating upon the project of immediate importance. Like the bowmen, they aim for their target and are apt to score a hit. Add to that a cheerful, happy disposition, stemming from the governing planet, Jupiter, and Sagittarius has the makings of an excellent Sign.

However, there are pitfalls. The natural energy which gains such good results can be wasted through overzeal or the feverish excitement that too often accompanies their work. Sagittarians wear themselves out in their anxiety to get things done, therefore they should seek projects worthy of their efforts, offering full-time prospects. The saying, “Not failure, but low aim, is crime,” applies strongly to Sagittarians.

Being workers, not seekers, these people can accomplish twice as much as others and will apply themselves to charitable or helpful causes with the same energy that they devote to their own aims. When their time is thus divided, they are often happiest, because by doubling their effort—as they like to do!—they can still handle their own affairs along with someone else’s.

When confronted by adversity or failure, these people can usually stage a remarkable “comeback” by stepping up their activity or their output. But it is that very nervous impatience to be always doing more that causes them to stumble or flounder in the first place. They are naturally intuitive with keen foresight, so when they feel sure that something “can’t go wrong” they yield to impulse and in their excitement or enthusiasm overlook new problems that arise. Also, because their natures are versatile, they pick up new things too quickly, thinking they have learned all there is to know about them.

Sagittarius people mind their own business, but sometimes go so far afield that they conflict with others. They are very outspoken and often offend more sensitive persons without realizing why. Being so frank and forthright, they assume that anyone who is at all secretive must be hiding something that is wrong. As a result, Sagittarians can become scathing in their accusations, making mountains out of molehills.

Impulsive acts cause Sagittanans great trouble, clear on through middle age, when they become irritable and develop unruly tempers, which can only be soothed or restrained by persons whom they trust. Sometimes they literally wear themselves down until their impulsiveness is merely spasmodic. With stamina gone, they fuss from one minor project to another, getting nowhere.

But at their best and strongest, Sagittarius people insist on seeing things through and their impulsive actions are contagious, bringing them great popularity and a host of followers. Those who achieve success under this sign are usually neat, methodical and orderly.

In business, Sagittarians succeed in anything that provides a multitude of outlets for their active, versatile minds. They like to travel and do well as prospectors, mining engineers, air pilots, and sea captains. Imports and exports are good lines for their progressive, systematic minds. They do well as bankers and financiers, but in all well-established endeavors they should avoid too many side interests, remembering that time is money.

Inventors, writers, stock raisers, and large farm operators are all found under Sagittarius. They are very strong in scientific and mechanical fields, and in partnership with Aries or Gemini they can gain great results. The impulsiveness of Sagittarius and the exuberance of Leo is also an effective combination, though it may prove less sustained.

Partnerships between Sagittarius and slower-moving signs are generally unproductive. There is one exoeption: Sagittarius supplies the impulsive fervor that Capricorn needs, making that a good combination. The impulsiveness of Sagittarius also combines with the deliberation of Scorpio, but chiefly in big enterprises. In lesser projects they may disagree.

In marriage, Sagittarius is aptly called “The bachelor sign” because these freedom-seeking folk can get along quite well on their own. But being cheerful, considerate, and willing to share burdens, they often prove to be fine spouses. Sagittarians do well to marry someone born under their own sign, or a person born in Gemini, due to the mutual urge toward varied interests. Sagittarius also may marry well with Aries or Leo, which are themselves impulsive to a degree. Sagittarius and Libra are often a good marital team, due to their mutual recognition of Intuitive qualities.
