1.60 FORMING A SIMPLIFIED HOROSCOPE

The casting of a complete, detailed horoscope is not only difficult; in many cases it is practically impossible due to a lack Of data regarding the exact time of a person’s birth, which, according to most professional astrologers, should be calculated not only to the day, but to the hour and the minute.

Because of that, many persons are content to go by the indications of their birth signs, classing themselves as a Gemini, a Leo, or a Virgo type, as the case may be. Often such readings run remarkably true to form, but there is no reason why they should be so limited. It is quite easy to extend the astrological findings pertainig to a person’s birth date by means of a simplified horoscope.

The procedure is as follows:

1. Study the general characteristics of the birth sign or cusp under which the individual was born. These include the Influence of the planet governing that period.

2. Note the lesser traits listed under the decan or ten-day period which is subordinate to the sign, due chiefly to the planetary influences of that particular decan.

3. Find the planet governing the day of the week on which the person was born. These are usually listed in a special section, together with a chart for finding the correct day of the week for any date in the past three centuries. Study the influence of that planet and apply it as an important factor.

4. Note the planet ruling the year of the person’s birth, which is listed in another section. This can be considered as an added

influence, usually of a modifying nature, and its indication should be gauged accordingly.

5. Check the ruling planet of the cycle, which is also listed, to learn how well it harmonizes with the previous influences. This is of comparatively small importance, but can account for slight differences in individuals, due to favorable or unfavorable combinations.

From these indications you can blend a personality chart far more comprehensive than a mere monthly reading. In many instances, its practical interpretations will approach those of a very elaborate horoscope. However, the more careful the analysis, the greater the shading of the various influences, the better the result.

This should be remembered when preparing horoscopes for various persons. As with every occult science, a full interpretation of accepted indications requires skill and judgment which can only be gained through effort and experience.
