10.31 THE LINES OF AFFECTION

10.31 THE LINES OF AFFECTION     ****************************                               (lines of union)

The lines of affection, sometimes called the lines of union, are also known as the lines of marriage. They are located on the side of the hand under the little finger on the area called the mount of Mercury, running parallel to the heart line. There may be one, two, three, or more. They represent love affairs, marriages, and marital complications. Usually there is one line that is more clearly marked and longer than the others, denoting a marriage or the most important attachment.

A straight clear long line — a good marriage with happiness and contentment.

If it continues to the line of Apollo — an exceptionally brilliant alliance for husband and wife promising fame and wealth.

If it cuts through — misfortune and unhappiness.

If the line slopes downward — the mate will be the first to die.

If the line turns upward — no marriage, or a frustration that causes disappointment.

A broken line – divorce or separation, especially if a line runs from the line of union to the line of life.

Overlapping broken line – periods of reconciliation.

Forked at the beginning, on the side of the percussion – self-willed separation.

Forked at the end of the line – separation by the will of the mate.

Two parallel lines very close together – affectionately called the mother-in-law line. It may be a relative from either side of the family.

All of these interpretations must be identified on the life and/or fate lines by a cross line, cross, or break, depending upon the good or bad traits of the lines of affection.

Children are supposed to be promised by small cross lines on the important line or lines that indicate a marriage. Straight lines for boys. Slanting lines for girls. These lines can be on hands of people who have no children, but the desire may have been so strong that despite circumstances, the lines remain the hands.

The line which is closest to the heart line – the earliest possible marriage or love affair.

If the most important, longest line lies closer to the little finger — marriage late in life.

Absence of lines — marriage does not change the lives of either husband or wife. Living conditions, social status, and economic basis remain the same.

An island on a line – unfaithful.

Many islands — irresponsible, not desirable far marriage.

Star on the line – hopeless infidelity.
