1.49 THE RULING PLANETS OF THE DAY
In recognizing seven planets, ancient astrologers linked them to different days of the week, in the following order: the Sun, the Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn.
These became the Sun’s Day for Sunday; the Moon’s Day for Monday; but the names of the Roman gods became mixed with their Teutonic equivalents. For example, Woden is used instead of Mercury for Woden’s Day, or Wednesday; while Thor is used instead of Jupiter for Thor’s Day or Thursday.
1.48 VENUS
Ruler of the Signs Taurus and Libra
***********************************
In its highest form, Venus provides the finest of all planetary influences. It denotes a kindly, harmonious nature, with a desire for happiness and comradeship. Beauty, charm, love of music and gaiety, all belong to the Venusian makeup. Persons under this influence will spare no effort in the creation of comfortable surroundings. They enjoy home life and form firm and lasting friendships. Such are the positive aspects.
In contrast, lack of harmony is disturbing to Venusians. They become emotional over disputes. Being kindly, they are easily offended and will resent even slight neglect. Unless they are careful in their choice of friends or those upon whom they shower their affections, misunderstanding may result.
